Privacy Policy

Unlike traditional cloud-based project management platforms, Drawpin is engineered to operate without account registration or mandatory cloud sync. As a result:

  • No User Accounts: The app does not require your name, email address, phone number, or login credentials. If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send so we can respond.
  • No Photo or Annotation Access: Photos captured or imported into Drawpin, along with pins, sketches, and notes, are stored locally. Drawpin does not upload your photo library or reports to us or our performance monitoring service provider as part of its telemetry.
  • No Location Tracking: We do not track, log, or transmit your physical GPS location.
  • No Advertising Tracking: We do not use advertising SDKs or sell your data. Screen navigation is recorded for performance analysis, not for targeted advertising or tracking you across other companies’ apps and websites.

In versions with the Share diagnostics setting, you can choose to send technical data to Expo through its EAS Observe service over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Sharing is off by default and is not required to use Drawpin. When enabled, reports cover ordinary use as well as errors and include:

  • Performance and Navigation: App startup, screen rendering and time-to-interactive measurements, screen route patterns, timestamps, and frame-rate measurements.
  • Device and App Details: Device model, operating system, language, app and build versions, and available battery, power, thermal, and network connection information.
  • Identifiers: A randomly generated installation identifier and session identifiers that allow reports from the same installation or session to be associated. These are not advertising identifiers.
  • Error Reports: Error messages and stack traces from handled failures, rendering failures, and unhandled JavaScript errors. Our custom reports use fixed operation messages. Automatic error reports may contain details present in the underlying error, such as file paths; we cannot guarantee that every error message is free of personal information.

We use this information to identify slow screens, diagnose failures, and improve app performance and reliability. Photo identifiers are filtered from navigation metrics. We do not intentionally include photos, annotations, report contents, or file names in custom telemetry events.

Expo receives and processes these reports as our third-party performance monitoring service provider. See Expo’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for its data handling practices. As with other internet services, the receiving service also receives the connection’s IP address. Technical identifiers can link reports across sessions, so we do not describe this data as anonymous.

Your choice: Open Settings & About → Share diagnostics to enable sharing. Enabling takes effect on the next app launch. You can turn the switch off at any time to stop future uploads; this does not delete reports already sent.

Technical diagnostics may still be recorded locally while sharing is off. Pending reports are discarded before sharing starts. When sharing is enabled, reports may be queued while offline and sent when a connection becomes available. Working offline alone is not an opt-out.

Earlier releases: Versions without the Share diagnostics switch send diagnostics automatically and have no in-app opt-out. Update to a version with this setting to control future sharing.

Drawpin requests only the device permissions strictly necessary to perform its functions:

  • Camera: Used solely to allow you to capture photos on site for annotation within the app.
  • Photo Library / Storage: Used solely to allow you to import existing images from your gallery and save exported snag reports to your device.

Camera and photo permissions support on-device capture, import, and export. They do not authorize uploading your photos to us. Device backups and photo-library syncing you enable are governed by your operating system or cloud provider’s settings.

When you use the "Save or Share" feature in Drawpin to send reports via WhatsApp, Email, Messages, or AirDrop, the transfer is executed directly through the native operating system share sheet. Your shared images and files are transmitted directly to your chosen recipient according to the privacy terms of that third-party application.

Because all photos and defect lists reside locally on your device, you maintain complete control over your data. You can delete individual photos, pins, or snag entries at any time inside the app. Uninstalling Drawpin or clearing its application storage/data removes local app data. The “Clear image cache” action removes temporary image files, not saved photos, annotations, or the database. Exported files, shared copies, and device backups must be managed separately.

Turning off diagnostics sharing, deleting local photos, clearing the image cache, or uninstalling Drawpin does not delete telemetry already sent to Expo. The service includes 90 days of data retention. This service retention window is not a promise that every backup or service log is erased at exactly 90 days; the provider’s applicable terms govern those records.

For questions about retention or to request access to or deletion of information, contact support@getdrawpin.com. Because Drawpin has no user accounts, we may need additional information to locate a report associated with your installation. Please avoid sending photos or sensitive report contents unless needed for your support request.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements or operational changes. Any updates will be published on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
